Central Texas Man Charged in Foster Baby's Death

A Central Texas man has been charged following the death of a 11-month-old girl who was in the foster care of her aunt.

Williamson County jail records show 32-year-old Jacob Salas of Cedar Park was being held without bond Tuesday on a charge of injury to a child. Online records don't list a lawyer for Salas, who was booked Sunday.

Police on Saturday answered a call about a choking baby. Investigators later determined Orien Hamilton had a skull fracture. She died Sunday.

Records show Orien was removed from her San Antonio home last fall after her mother tested positive for drugs. The baby was placed with an aunt in a foster kinship program. The aunt unexpectedly had to work last weekend and left Orien with a friend -- Salas.
