Tips leads police to suspect

Cedar Hill Police charged Theron Lacey, Jr. with capital murder in the death of Dorothy Reiter.

Investigators say Reiter was attacked, robbed and stabbed near her home while walking Tuesday, October 28.

Lacey, a 27-year-old Cedar Hill resident was arrested Friday, Oct. 31 on a robbery warrant.

Police say a tip from a concerned citizen contributed to the arrest in this case.

Cedar Hill Mayor Rob Franke said "Crimes like this aren't supposed to happen in peaceful neighborhoods like ours. Our community was truly shocked and saddened for the family and friends of Ms. Reiter. I prayed for a quick resolution to this crime so our neighbors could once again be at ease. We take great pride in the efforts or our men and women in law enforcement and the superhuman efforts they dedicated to solving this crime."

Assistant Police Chief Rodney Thompson credited a Schepps Dairy reward of $10,000 for generating information in this case.
