A man was shot to death after he broke into a home in east Dallas Monday morning, police said.

Officers said two men attempted to break into a house in the 2600 block of Lakeland Drive at about 6:40 a.m.

When the homeowner saw them, he fired his gun, shooting one of the men.

That man, identified as 22-year-old Eric Anthony Rocha, was transported to Baylor Medical Center Dallas where he later died.

The other alleged intruder fled the scene before officers arrived and is still at large.

Dallas police are investigating. It is not clear if the homeowner will face charges.
