It's Day 8 of the 2017 State Fair of Texas. Here's 5 things you need to know before heading to the fair on Friday.
- Get the day started by having cake for breakfast. Okay, maybe not... but you can attend the 2017 State Fair of Texas Cake Contest. The mouth-watering competition is held inside the creative arts competition kitchen and judging happens at 10:30 a.m. There are several categories including layered, loaf, bundt & sheet. This should be a fun competition to see in person.
- Next, one of the special exhibits this year is "Texas in the First World War." This exhibit will give you an in-depth look at Texas history its role in World War I. There's even a Model T ambulance on display. You can find this all inside the Hall of State.
- The kids will enjoy this next attraction, the feeding demo's at the Children's Aquarium. This is where kids of all ages can have a hands-on experience with a hermit crab or even feed a sting-ray. Additional admission is required to get into the aquarium.
- You can also check out the "Lone Star Stampede" inside the Pan Am Arena. There are 4 show times on Friday, 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. & 6 p.m.
- Later Friday night, The Peterson Brothers bring their modern blend of blues, soul & funk to the Chevrolet main stage. Showtime is 5:30 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m.
