An animal cruelty investigation has been launched in Dallas after three miniature horses were found stabbed to death outside the owner's home.
Maera Ortega discovered the dead horses in her yard, according to a report Wednesday night. She's now worried about the safety of her family as investigators try to determine a motive for the horse killings.
Ortega said one of the horses had been tied to a tree. All three animals appeared to have been struck in the head while in a fenced area.
Ortega, who found the dead animals Monday, said the family bought the miniature horses a couple of months ago.
