2.5 Magnitude Quake in Northwest Dallas on Thursday

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in Northwest Dallas Thursday afternoon according to the USGS.

The quake was centered where I-35E and Loop 12 merge at 2:44 p.m. That's four miles northeast of Irving and four miles south of Farmers Branch.

NBC 5 viewer Cindy Nicholson Bell was the first to ask us about the ground shaking around the Las Colinas area.

"It moved me and my chair," she posted on the NBC DFW Facebook page. Bell wanted to know why no one was talking about the possible quake.

The USGS earthquake notification was sent out just before 12:30 a.m. Friday.

No injuries or damage were reported in this most recent quake.
