Two South Texas ex-police officers have been sentenced to federal prison for lying to federal agents to hide a theft of cocaine that had been seized in a drug bust.
A federal judge sentenced 30-year-old Salvador Hernandez of Mission to two years in prison, while 27-year-old Richard Leon Castillo of Pharr drew a prison term of one year and four months.
They were found guilty by separate juries of lying to Drug Enforcement Administration agents investigating three cocaine bundles missing from a 40-bundle seizure made on Aug. 27, 2016.
Both will remain free on bond until they report to prison on a date still to be determined.
