2 Brothers From Odessa Get Prison in Drugs, Weapons Case

Two West Texas brothers have been sentenced to prison in a drugs and weapons case linked to a 2014 raid on their Odessa home.

Prosecutors say 40-year-old Pedro Madrid was sentenced Thursday to 38 years in federal prison. His brother, 38-year-old Elizar Madrid, received a 21-year term.

A jury in Midland in August convicted the brothers of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Officers last December raided the Madrid home and seized methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and semi-automatic weapons. A February traffic stop turned up drugs and guns.

Pedro Madrid has a prior conviction for arson. Elizar Madrid was previously convicted of obstruction and retaliation.
