Despite the lethal power and stealth capabilities of the new F-22 Raptor, the next generation fighter produced by Lockheed Martin in west Fort Worth is facing the fight of its life.
Air Force Magazine reports President Barak Obama must choose and inform Congress by March 1, 2009, if he intends to keep buying F-22's or close the production line.
Supporters of the F-22 have even put up a Web site to solicit others to lobby members of Congress and the President to keep the F-22 production line.
Lockheed Martin F-22 Manager Larry Lawson told Air Force Daily Report keeping the F-22 production line will preserve more jobs than just in the city of Fort Worth.
90 to 95-thousand jobs are linked to the F-22 at subcontractors in 44 states, "It's a great stimulus package," said Lawson.
