Radioactive Water Treated, Recycled at Japanese Nuke Plant

Water contaminated by the tsunami and ensuing meltdown at Japan' s Fukushima nuclear plant is being cleansed and used to cool down the reactors. Operator Tokyo Electric Power Company said about 1,850 tons of radioactive water had been recycled so far. "First, the system will solve the problem of contaminated water, which gave all sorts of worries to the world," said a top government official. "Second, it will enable stable cooling of reactors." Tepco said the company is on target to bring the plant to a "cold shutdown" by January.
