Before Friday, none of Dallas' 12 draft selections had been signed. As of Sunday night, the team has come to terms with half their selections.
Victor Butler, DeAngelo Smith and Oklahoma-product Manuel Johnson were the first to sign on Friday, followed shortly by TCU's Stephen Hodge, John Phillips and Mike Mickens.
Stephen Hodge will shift from safety, his position as a member of the Horned Frogs, to inside linebacker, and figures to make an immediate impact on special teams.
John Phillips, the former Virginia Cavalier, will probably fill the role of third tight end behind Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett, although he will have to win the role from two year veteran Scott Chandler.
Mike Mickens, cornerback out of Cincinnati, may prove to be a considerable steal; his fourteen career interceptions are a University of Cincinnati school record, though his draft-stock fell significantly after suffering a torn meniscus in a game against Louisville during the Bearcat's 2008 campaign. Thus his availability in the seventh round.
The six remaining unsigned draft picks are Jason Williams (linebacker out of W. Michigan), Robert Brewster (tackle out of Ball State), Stephen McGee (quarterback out of Texas A&M), Brandon Williams (linebacker out of Texas Tech), Mike Hamlin (safety out of Clemson) and David Beuhler (kicker out of USC).
