Upgrade Your Mapsco for $10

Getting around the Metroplex can, at times, be very confusing.  Not just because of its size, but also because of growth.

And that could be why many North Texans turn to their Mapsco to help keep them from getting lost.

Now the company is offering an "up-grade" of sorts designed to help its customers, the environment and a good cause.

"So we came up with this program where you can upgrade any old book, no matter what condition or edition you have and get a brand new Mapsco for just $10," said Tracy Eubanks with Mapsco.

The upgrades are a savings of about 75 percent.  People seem to be taking notice of the deal, including members of the Dallas Police Department.

"We work up in North Central where there has been a lot of development over the last couple of years," said Sgt. Mike Gurley with the Dallas Police Department. "So a lot of the Mapscos, if they are 3 or 4 years old, there have been new streets added. So this is a great deal to get 2009 Mapscos so everybody can be up to speed."

The company expects to collect about 15,000 books, which will be packed up, shredded and recycled by Mosaic.

"Mosaic is a non-profit organization, that provides a variety of services to people within the community to people with developmental disabilities, like mental retardation, autism, and down syndrome," said Jo Beth Collier with Mosaic.

Mosaic started its document destruction business to make a little extra money and help its clients pay for medical and living expenses. And that's not all.

"We started a document destruction business in our vocational center," said Collier. "The vocational center is a place in which we teach people skills and hope to get them jobs within the community."

So now you can save a little green, go green and help a good cause all in one stop.

The $10 promotion has been extended until closing time on May 11 and it is only available in Mapsco's stores in Addison, Dallas  and Fort Worth.
