Solar-Powered Sputniks

SOLAR-POWERED SPUTNIKS: Light up your space with these solar ball lights we found at Nest Dallas. The three-legged lights remind us of a Sputnik, though these utilitarian items are far more down-to-earth. Integrated sensors in the self-sufficient pod detect when the light should turn on. Plus, each ball has solar panels that recharge the light with two to five hours of sunlight for every eight hours of ambient illumination. We also dig the choice of a "clear" light (not pictured) to help go better with our decor -- green, orange, and pink don't really match our "Soviet Grey" look. GET IT: Nest Dallas, $25.
