Resto Round-Up: Pizza Lounge and Bliss' Second Spot

Pizza Lounge is open and a second Bliss Raw is coming soon

Pizza Lounge

841 Exposition Ave., Dallas

If you’re in the mood for a pre-fab mass-market pie, Pizza Lounge is not for you.  First-time restaurateurs Michael Liebermann and David Habony envisioned a slice of something different when they opened their new Expo Park pizzeria.  Outfitted with overstuffed furniture, ottomans and communal benches, the three-week-old restaurant rocks offbeat tunes while patrons partake of unique, homemade creations.

From house-made dough to super-fresh ingredients, Liebermann explains, "We're very concerned with maintaining a high level of quality and service."  Try a Sofa King, piled high with meat and veggies, or a Surfin’ Hog, featuring Jimmy’s spicy sausage.  Hours are in flux right now as the restaurant reaches its stride, but you can count on 8 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. on weekdays and an opening time of “about 6 o’clock” on Friday and Saturday nights.  Visit Pizza Lounge on Facebook for regular updates on hours of operation.

An inside source tells us the second Dallas location of Bliss Raw Café is in the final phase of construction.  Scheduled to open the last week of December, this new outpost will feature “all indoor seating”, as opposed to its mostly al fresco Greenville Avenue sibling.  Bliss has been one of the most talked-about restaurants of 2009, and we expect a second helping of such delights as Cowboy “Rawko” Tacos and “Rawsagna” will continue to please adventurous local palates.  Click here for more info on Bliss Raw Café from Around Town Correspondent Annie Potasznik.

The stoves are cold at Soley! on Henderson Avenue and plain brown paper covers its plate glass windows.  The Franco-Mexican fusion spot will be missed – but hopefully not for long.  According to the Dallas Morning NewsEATS blog, owners Norma and José Vasconcelos are planning a comeback for mid-to-late 2010.
