You’ve seen the photos. Now hear the explanation.
Seems like about once a year Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has photos surface on the Internet of him goofing off with some variety of women that aren’t his wife, Gene.
This year’s version popped up last week, as pictures of him with what appear to aggressive, suggestive women were splashed all over the net from the New York Post to TMZ.
Jones spoke to the media in Oxnard Sunday night and explained that, well, the photos aren’t news because they’re old.
“Someone has misrepresented photos taken at a restaurant five years ago for their own purposes,’’ Jones said, adding that he’s known about the photos – now all over the Internet – for five years. “I’m just not going to comment on it.”
The photos are apparently part of an extortion plot aimed at forcing Jones to fork over money to quash other similar photos.
I’ve been on the Cowboys’ bus, and I’ve spent countless nights gallivanting with Jones and his entourage. Men want autographs. Women want photos. Some people want a whole lot more.
“As you know,” Jones said, “Our bus, we entertain. That’s what we do.”
So until Gene stomps her foot or until Jerry breaks any laws, that’s going to be a continuing story with the Cowboys and their owner. Carry on.
