Do-Nut Miss This Faux-liday

Because it is the first Friday of June, it's National Doughnut Day.

Though we'd classify this as a Faux-liday (fake holiday), the day of the donut (or doughnut, whatevs) actually has it's start back in 1938 when the Chicago-area Salvation Army needed to raise some funds and to honor the "lassies" of World War I that served coffee and donuts to servicemen in France.

Of course, that's all just a great excuse to endulge in a piece of sweetened deep-fried dough. Works for us.

The doughnut of choice, at least this morning, was from Krispy Kreme. You'll see the spoils of Doughnut Day on The Rundown at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on DFW Nonstop, if you need visual proof.

Still, we're open to trying a few more donut options -- add your suggestions in the comments fields and we might buy a baker's dozen.
