A Wylie East High School student has been hospitalized after attempting to harm himself on campus Thursday afternoon, the school district said. A student attempted to harm himself during lunch and was found by classmates. He was treated by paramedics and transported to an area hospital for medical attention, according to a statement from Wylie ISD.The student was conscious when he was transported and remained hospitalized Thursday evening, district spokesman Ian Halperin said. There is no threats to students, the school said. "We know that there are a lot of rumors circulating," the school said in the statement. "We ask that you respect the student's privacy and pray for all involved."There will be additional counselors available at the school for students, staff or families for as long as there's a need, Halperin said.
