Woman Who Stole Holiday Season Packages Off Lakewood Porches Gets Probation

A woman convicted of stealing thousands of dollars off porches in Lakewood and other areas in late 2017 and early 2018 has been sentenced to probation.Kelli Russell, who pleaded guilty to theft of at least $2,500, was sentenced to two years deferred adjudication. The sentence includes no jail time.Russell was 33 when she was originally arrested in east Oak Cliff on several outstanding traffic violations in December 2017. She later turned herself into authorities after officers who questioned her got a search warrant and found "a large amount" of stolen packages in her home.As the rash of holiday-season thefts grew, Lakewood residents posted photos and videos captured by home security systems on social media of a blond woman taking packages and fleeing in a tan Buick.  Continue reading...
