IRVING — Janeera Gonzalez liked her birthday celebrations to be intimate and simple. On Tuesday, her family plans to honor that tradition on what would have been her 21st birthday with a small gathering of family and friends at her grave. "We plan to celebrate her day just as if she were still here," her mother, Lucia Gonzalez, said in a brief interview Monday at their home. "Even though she's not alive, she continues to live in our hearts." Janeera Nickol Gonzalez was fatally shot at North Lake College in May, where she was a kinesiology major.
