Woman Found Dead at Eagle Mountain Lake After Storm Overturned Sailboat, Officials Say

A woman sailing in Eagle Mountain Lake was killed Sunday afternoon when the boat was overturned in the sudden storms, officials said.Three people who had been sailing with the woman told Tarrant Regional Water District police that they were able to regain control of the boat, but couldn't find their companion.As they searched for her, the winds pushed the vessel into shallow water, police said. They called police to the west side of the lake, near South Broadway Street in Azle, just before 2 p.m.Azle police looked on shore for the woman, whose name has not been released, while TRWD officers searched the shoreline.Around 4 p.m., an Azle officer saw the woman's body about 100 feet from where she had disappeared, and officials brought her to a nearby dock where she was pronounced dead, according to TRWD police.The area had been under a thunderstorm warning when the boat overturned.One other woman was killed during the Sunday storms as a crane toppled into the Elan City Lights apartment complex in Old East Dallas.  Continue reading...
