Why Dallas Is Smart to Fight ‘sanctuary City' Law

The city of Dallas made a wise call to join Austin, San Antonio and other Texas cities to fight the state's new "sanctuary city" law.Mayor Mike Rawlings called SB 4 "unconstitutional" and said the law, slated to go into effect Sept. 1, hurts the city's ability to protect its citizens. He argues that it's too much to ask police officers to put safety first and become immigration officers.He's right.This shortsighted law is big step backward for Texas because it encourages unfair treatment of millions of law-abiding American citizens.
