When NRA Meets, Fewer People Suffer Gun-related Injuries, Study Finds

When the National Rifle Association holds a convention, which it will do in Dallas this week, gun-related injuries temporarily decrease, according to an analysis by the New England Journal of Medicine. The NRA will host its annual meeting Thursday through Sunday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The association estimates "tens of thousands of patriots" will attend the four-day event in downtown Dallas. Speakers include President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.Guns, knives and all other weapons are prohibited before and during Trump's and Pence's appearances. The study was completed to test the claim that firearm injuries happen mostly among inexperienced users and that safety comes with experience and training.
