Vermont Police Shoot Unarmed Lewisville Man Suspected in Multi-state Crime Spree

The search for a Lewisville man suspected of going on a multi-state crime spree ended in Vermont on Friday after authorities there tracked him down and shot him.Mark Triolo, 46, is suspected of robbing a gas station and two markets in Vermont this month. Warrants for his arrest had been issued in Texas for a parole violation and New York for an April robbery with a gun.Authorities investigating the Vermont robberies determined that the suspect was armed with a gun and drove a SUV with a Texas license plate, Vermont state police said in a news release.A police officer in the Vermont town of Brattleboro spotted the car at a gas station but Triolo drove off as officers approached the car. He parked his car in someone's driveway and ran into a wooded area nearby, state police said. Brattleboro police officers and Vermont state troopers confronted Triolo in the woods. They said they shot him multiple times after he didn't respond to orders to stop and show his hands.Authorities said in statement that the suspect refused to follow their orders to show them his hands before they shot him. They didn't find any weapons on him, but an unloaded gun was found in his car.He was taken to a hospital in New Hampshire and was expected to survive.  Continue reading...
