Unauthorized Immigrant Minor Was Allowed to Have an Abortion, But Officials Want Supreme Court Review

AUSTIN — The Department of Justice is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a federal court’s decision to allow an unaccompanied immigrant minor in Texas to get an abortion.The department filed a petition Friday with the Supreme Court, arguing that officials weren't properly informed of when they had to appeal before the minor, known as “Jane Doe” in court documents, had an abortion. The petition argues that the federal appeals court decision to allow Doe to get an abortion should be returned to the court to avoid setting a precedent in any future cases in which pregnant unaccompanied minors want to have abortions in the U.S.  Continue reading...
