Trooper Released From Hospital a Week After Frisco Standoff

A state trooper was released from a hospital Friday a week after he was wounded in a standoff at a Frisco apartment complex.Trooper Traveres Webb, a 12-year veteran of the Texas Department of Public Safety, was shot on March 29 after he tried to stop a motorist on the Dallas North Tollway.Webb attempted to stop the driver, 42-year-old Bryan Cahill near Spring Creek Parkway, but Cahill continued to drive away on the tollway.Cahill drove to the La Valencia at Starwood apartments in Frisco, where police said he shot Webb in the parking lot of the complex. He was arrested the next morning after a 15-hour standoff with a SWAT team.Webb was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Plano hospital and had surgery the night of the shooting."He remains in good spirits and looks forward to beginning the long recovery process," Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said in a statement.  Continue reading...
