This Bird Nesting Spot Is a Glimpse Into the Natural World, Right in the Middle of Dallas

North Texas continues to be one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with new buildings, subdivisions and parking lots steadily creeping outward. But there is a side of the Metroplex that most don't see. Places you often drive by offer a glimpse into the natural world, right in the middle of the big city.The "rookery" at UT Southwestern Medical Center is one such place. At the southwest corner of Inwood Road and Harry Hines Boulevard, just beyond the shadows of downtown Dallas' skyscrapers, lies one of the most unique areas to experience urban wildlife. Tucked in the medical center complex, a path from a small, three-car parking lot leads up to a memorial garden: "In memory of those who have so graciously helped further the advancement of medical science."  Continue reading...
