Texas Man and Woman Arrested After Hearse Taken, Body Dumped on Side of Road

Authorities say two people are in custody after a hearse was taken and the body in the back was dumped on the side of a road. A College Station funeral home employee stopped at a fast-food restaurant in Bryan early Friday when someone hopped in the unattended hearse and drove away. The keys were in the hearse, the Bryan Eagle reported. A passer-by found the body and the gurney it was on about an hour and a half later and a few miles away in rural Brazos County. The body was returned to College Station-based Stackhouse Mortuary Services, the newspaper reported.Travis D. Stackhouse, who runs the funeral home, was on vacation and could not be reached for comment, his brother Drew told the newspaper. "This is a very rare, one-time situation here," Drew Stackhouse said. "I don't know how or why it happened, but we are fixing the problem."  Continue reading...
