Texas Higher Ed Chief: We Must ‘substantially Reinvent Higher Education'

AUSTIN — Texas must completely revamp how it funds higher education, particularly financial aid going to the state's neediest students, if it wants to meet its long-term goals, the higher education chief said Tuesday."We're going to have to substantially reinvent higher education," Commissioner for Higher Education Raymund Paredes said on a call with the media. "If budget cuts are significant, I think institutions are going to have to worry about whether they invest more money in operations and instruction, or whether they invest more money for financial aid for their students."  Continue reading...
