Ted Cruz Gives Nike the Boot Over Pulled Flag Sneakers, Switching His Own Kicks to Adidas and Asics

WASHINGTON -- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz really did give Nike the boot.The Republican revealed on Twitter late Tuesday that he made good on his pledge to boycott the sneaker giant over the Oregon-based company's decision -- made at the behest of former NFL player Colin Kaepernick and others -- to pull a shoe that featured an early version of the American flag.Cruz, a known hoopster, is now kicking it in shoes made by Germany-based Adidas and Japan-based Asics."@Nike has decided they don't want my business anymore," he wrote on Twitter, sharing photos that explained that he was donating away his old Nikes to a thrift store.
