TCU Overturns Suspensions for Some Students Accused of Using Quizlet App to Cheat on Tests

Texas Christian University has overturned yearlong suspensions for some students who were accused of using the popular study app Quizlet to cheat on exams.The Varghese Summersett law firm said in a written statement that all the students it represents in the case have had their suspensions overturned. Other steps the university has taken — including failing grades, academic probation and charges of academic misconduct — remain in place and are still being appealed, the firm said."We are pleased to report that all of our clients' suspensions have been lifted by the dean of the Bob Schieffer College of Communication," attorney Letty Martinez said in the statement. "While we believe overturning these suspensions is a step in the right direction, we are continuing to appeal the remaining sanctions."School officials say the students used study sets in Quizlet that included test answers for several classes in TCU's college of communications over multiple semesters.The scheme was uncommon in both its size and nature, officials said.  Continue reading...
