Tarrant County Man Killed Roommate, Then Called 911 Days Later About the Man's Body, Police Say

A Tarrant County man is facing a murder charge after he called police Friday to say he found his roommate's body, then admitted he had actually shot the man days earlier, officials said.Jeffery Cory, 40, told officers Friday evening at his White Settlement home in the 1200 block of Kimbrough Street that he hadn't seen his roommate, 43-year-old Erik Fernandez, in several days. Cory said he came home from work and found Fernandez's dogs scratching at his roommate's bedroom door. He opened the door to find Fernandez's body inside, he told police. Detectives detained Cory for questioning, and he eventually admitted he had gotten into an argument with Fernandez days earlier and shot him. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office ruled that Fernandez died of gunshot wounds to his head and neck.In addition to Cory's confession, police said they found evidence at the scene that tied him to Fernandez's death. Police did not specify what the argument between the two men entailed or when exactly Fernandez was shot.Cory is being held in the Tarrant County Jail, where his bail is set at $75,000.  Continue reading...
