Shots Fired at Gas Meter, Causes Evacuations in Farmers Branch

Another gas leak caused another round of evacuations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Tuesday -- this time because gunshots punctured a meter in Farmers Branch, police said.The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. and led to a standoff after Farmers Branch police found a gas meter that had been struck in the 2700 block of Cookscreek Place.Police evacuated nearby apartment residents and searched for the suspect, which led to a standoff that lasted about two hours before the suspect was arrested, police said.No one was injured, and residents were allowed to return home while repairs were made to the gas line.
