Ride-hailing Zones Aimed at Keeping Traffic Moving in Deep Ellum Are Set to Take Effect

Visitors to Deep Ellum may be doing a little less riding and a little more walking under a plan that bars Uber and Lyft drivers from picking up and dropping off passengers in the core of the neighborhood.Beginning Thursday, ride-hailing passengers will have to use designated pick-up and drop-off areas in Deep Ellum. The zones, which aim to reduce traffic in the entertainment district, will be in effect 24 hours a day, every day of the week.“These new zones will provide customers access within one to two blocks of the core activity in Deep Ellum, while improving congestion and emergency vehicle access in the area,” a post on the city’s website said.   Continue reading...
