No Funds for Border Wall, But Trump Shrugs It Off as Mere Delay

WASHINGTON -- For all his campaign talk of building a border wall and making Mexico pay for it, President Donald Trump has yet to deliver. Some immigration hard liners are losing patience and even beginning to wonder just how serious Trump is about the project.The $1 trillion budget deal unveiled in the wee hours Monday morning to avoid a government shutdown includes no funding for the project. The White House publicly shrugged off the setback as a temporary delay and said the president is content to push for the wall in the next round of budget talks.Democrats gloated."In a defeat for President Trump, the omnibus does not fund the immoral and unwise border wall or create a cruel new deportation force," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Monday.Immigration hard liners were disappointed with the budget deal, which funds the federal government through the end of September.
