New Hotel Tower in the Works for Dallas' Uptown District

A California-based hotel company is eyeing a new high-rise project in Dallas' Uptown neighborhood.The 19-story hotel would be built on a triangular block at Cedar Springs and Olive Street across from the new McKinney & Olive high-rise.The property is now occupied by a small retail building.T2 Hospitality of Newport Beach proposes to develop the 230-room hotel designed by Dallas architect HKS and SWA Group.The 162,000-square-foot project includes a pocket park at the corner and will be served by four levels of underground parking.Plans for the project were unveiled at the most recent meeting of Dallas' Oak Lawn Committee.So far there's been no hotel company brand identified for the project.T2 president Most Williamson said the first step is to get the necessary planning approvals."Our goal is to go as quickly as we can," Williamson said. "We love the city and the site."The development site has been on the market for more than two years.The planned hotel at 2025 Cedar Springs would be one of three new hospitality projects on the works for Uptown.A block away developer Harwood International is building a 20-story hotel at the corner of McKinnon and Moody streets, just west of the Crescent and Tower Residences Ritz-Carlton condo building.So far the developer of the surrounding Harwood district has kept mum on the timetable and hotel flag for the project.And developer Alamo Manhattan Corp. is building a 14-story, 255-room Marriott hotel at Carlisle and Fairmount streets.WDG Architecture designed the building scheduled to open in early 2020.T2 Hospitality - the company working on the new Cedar Springs hotel - has developed multiple hotel projects in California plus properties in Colorado and North Carolina.  Continue reading...
