Japan Firm Moving Americas Headquarters From New Jersey to Irving

A Japan-based printer and equipment firm which last year opened a new regional office in Irving is moving its Americas headquarters to North Texas.OKI Data is moving its Americas base from New Jersey to the 8505 Freeport Pkwy in Irving, near the north end of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport."Our Irving headquarters will not only be the central hub for our growing base of employees in the Americas, but will also provide a collaborative setting to demonstrate our ever-evolving printing solutions and value-added services for our customers and partners throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America," Kiyoshi Kurimoto, President and Chief Executive Officer of OKI Data Americas, said in a statement. "The greater Dallas area is also an exciting, vibrant metropolis with an enormously rich talent pool that we know will be an asset for us as we grow."OKI Data officials said the Irving location is geographically suited to expand the company's operations in Nortth, Central and South America.Late last year OKI Data said that it would locate a regitonal office in Irving, spending $3.5 million to set up the 100-employee operation.The company said the office would include a Technology Solutions Center for their customers and partners throughout the U.S.OKI Data worked with Irving officials, the State of Texas and the Dallas Regional Chamber of commerce to locate the facility. The company received an $895,000 Texas Enterprise Fund grant from the governor's office.It's too early to say exactly how many people will work in OKI Data's new headquarters, said Sergio Horikawa, deputy president of Oki Data Americas Inc."We are still in the process of hiring the team," Horikawa said. "We will probably do more than planned" when the regional office was set up.OKI Data has had its American headquarters in Mount Laurel, NJ since 1972, he said.The company is a unit of Tokyo-based OKI Electric Industry, a $4 billion multinational corporation.  Continue reading...
