How to Prevent Wrongful Convictions? Lawmakers Get Suggestions

AUSTIN -- Police would be required to record interrogations and prosecutors would have to provide jurors more information about testimony from so-called prison snitches under a bill designed to prevent more Texans from being wrongfully imprisoned."We have been fighting and fighting so these things won't happen to anybody again, because it is devastating," Christopher Ochoa, an exoneree who was freed from prison 16 years ago after serving 12 years of a life sentence for a murder and rape he did not commit.Ochoa was one of several exonerees who came to the Capitol on Monday to support House Bill 34 during a hearing of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.
