Gunshot Victim Seeks Help at Outback Steakhouse in Irving, Police Say

A man went into an Outback Steakhouse in Irving for help after getting shot late Monday night, police said. Officers responded to the scene in the 3500 block of West Airport Freeway, near North Belt Line Road, about 9:30 p.m. The suspect tried to rob the victim at gunpoint, the victim fought back and the suspect's gun discharged, striking the victim in the leg, Irving police spokesman James McLellan said. The suspect took the victim's keys and fled, leaving the victim's vehicle in the parking lot. McLellan said it's possible the suspect intended to steal the victim's vehicle, but chose to flee after the gun discharged. The victim went inside to get help and someone at the restaurant called 911. EMS responded to the scene and checked out the victim, whose injury is non-life-threatening.
