General Motors to Invest Additional $20M in Arlington Plant Before 2021 SUV Models

This story is developing and will be updated.General Motors will invest an additional $20 million in its massive assembly plant in Arlington for upgrades ahead of the release of its 2021 SUV models.GM executive vice president Gerald Johnson made the announcement Tuesday morning at the plant where the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade are made.The investment is proof of GM's commitment to Arlington, Johnson said. The plant has been producing vehicles since 1954. In June 2017, GM announced it was creating a 1,250-employee supplier park across the plant to support future vehicle production. That included more than 850 new jobs -- with about 600 replacing work being done by suppliers outside the United States.
