Former Plano Senior High Athlete Gets 33 Years for Sexually Assaulting Child at His Mom's Home Day Care

A former Plano Senior High School athlete has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault of a child.Zachary Alan Holifield, 19, was sentenced Thursday, a week after pleading guilty. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped another aggravated sexual assault charge as well as a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact.Holifield β€” once a highly recruited baseball player who had committed to Oklahoma State University β€” was arrested in June 2016 after a 5-year-old victim made an outcry.According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, the girl β€” who attended a home day care run by Holifield's mother β€” told authorities that the teen "picked her up and took her into the bathroom," where he made her perform a sex act.  Continue reading...
