Flashback: Young Dallasites Streaked Into Spring in 1974

Editor's note: Take a look into The Dallas Morning News archives.Spring is upon us, which means we can start hanging up our big coats and sweaters. In 1974, many young Dallas residents embraced the warmer weather by hanging up more than their coats. Instead, they opted for their birthday suits to join the national streaking craze.In early March of that year, Dallas saw its first streaker run through downtown, as about four Dallasites ran through El Centro College's lobby in front of 400 onlookers to their getaway van on Elm Street. And many others followed suit that day. Students from W.T. High School, Richardson High School, Richland College, the University of Texas at Arlington and Hockaday School all took part by baring it all in public.
