Favor Begins Delivering Central Market's Beer and Wine Selections in Dallas and Plano

H-E-B is putting Favor to work in much of Dallas and Collin counties to deliver beer and wine from its Central Market stores beginning Thursday.Austin-based Favor, which was purchased by H-E-B in February 2018, has been delivering beer and wine for H-E-B stores in 30 Texas cities since last year. The service has been part of the Central Market store on Midway Road and West Northwest Highway since it opened in September, but in a limited 5-mile radius. For this initial rollout of the service, the beer and wine selections at Central Market Midway, Lovers Lane in Dallas and the Plano store on Coit Road will be available for delivery. Those stores carry 2,500 wine labels and 350 beer selections. That covers "a large portion of Dallas County, the entire city of Plano and several surrounding cities in Collin County," said Keith Duncan, Favor senior vice president of sales and business development. While Favor called it an "initial rollout," it didn't elaborate on whether the plan is to expand it to operate from other Central Market stores in Fort Worth and Southlake. Favor didn't respond to a request for more information. The service is accessible through the Favor app or website. There, customers can search for Central Market beer and wine. The service is free but a minimum $2 tip for the runner is required. As true with all alcohol deliveries, a photo ID is also required. In the last few years, several options for alcoholic beverage delivery have become available from startups such as Saucey and Drizly, liquor stores Goody Goody and even 7-Eleven and Amazon Prime Now.Twitter: @MariaHalkias  Continue reading...
