Houston developer Hines is close to revealing plans for a major mixed-use project on State Highway 121 in Allen.The more than 100-acre development would be on vacant land at the southeast corner of S.H. 121 and Alma Road, just south of McKinney.The planned development would be near the successful Craig Ranch residential and commercial community.Hines plans to detail plans for the project next week at a real estate seminar organized by the Allen Economic Development Corp."They got control of the land in December," said Dan Bowman, who heads the Allen EDC. "They are going thorugh a process to finalize a master plan."Nobody had planned a mixed-use piece like that on State Highway 121," he said.Hines' planned development is likely to include a combination of office space, retail and urban-style residential construction.Architect Gensler is designing the project.The pending project is just one of a handful of new devleopments on the way in Allen, a city of about 100,000 located between Plano and McKinney.Allen and Altera Development have just broken ground ond week on a $91 million hotel and conference center at U.S. 75 and Bethany Drive.Kaizen Development Partners is building a 5-story, 125,000-square-foot office building nearby.Also on State Highway 121 in Allen, High Street Residential and RPS Development are planning a 60-acre project called Cornerstone Village @ Allen.
