Defense Contractor Plans New Plano Office

A major U.S. defense contractor is planning a new facility in Plano.Virginia-based General Dynamics Mission Systems intends to locate an office with 280 jobs in East Plano.The facility at 1000 Klein Road will replace a smaller office and manufacturing location in Richardson."General Dynamics Mission Systems SATCOM Technologies has been designing and building large-scale satellite communications and radio telescope antennas and subsystems in Richardson for more than 20 years," said spokeswoman Carol Taska Smith. "We have outgrown our current facility and this new manufacturing facility in Plano, close to the Richardson one, will easily accommodate our workforce."Jobs include manufacturing, engineering, test and administrative positions."Plano's city council is set to vote tonight to provide a $176,400 grant for the relocating operation.The company says it will spend $5.3 million on the office and equipment.  Continue reading...
