Dallas Woman, 83, Sends Scammers $6,000 in Cash in Exchange for Fake Sweepstakes Check for $600,000

Scammers posing as the Publishers Clearing House "prize patrol" stole thousands of dollars from an elderly Dallas woman, and police are warning they may strike again.The 84-year-old victim received a letter early this month saying she was the lucky winner of a $600,000 prize.The letter bore an official-looking stamp and what appeared to be the signature of an official from the direct-marketing company known for its million-dollar giveaways."We are pleased to inform you that you are on of our lucky winners," the letter reads.  Continue reading...
