Dallas Police Bait Car Program Ready to Roll Again Friday After Brief Hiatus

The Dallas Police Department temporarily suspended its bait car program after police lost the ability to disable a stolen bait truck Monday, but the cars will be reintroduced on Friday.Police got a notice early Monday when Billy Ray Scott stole a bait truck from the 300 block of North Walton Street. They got in a brief chase with the man, which ended at Fair Park after Scott reportedly rammed a police car and an officer shot him. He was hospitalized in critical condition.The department said in a statement that it was reviewing why the bait vehicle could not be remotely shut down as it was supposed to, and "made corrections" to ensure it doesn't happen again.Police did not release what the technical issue was.
