Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson Announces Task Force to Get Community Input on How to Address Violent Crime

A 9-year-old girl about to start school, fatally shot while watching TV in her Old East Dallas apartment. A 21-year-old South Oak Cliff graduate, the son of a Dallas school trustee who was fatally shot near his mother's home. And a 59-year-old man, fatally shot in a Northeast Dallas shopping center parking lot. Those are just three of the recent deaths the city has added to its growing total of homicides this year. Less than a week after the death of 9-year-old Brandoniya Bennett prompted calls for peace, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson on Monday announced the start of a new task force aimed at addressing the city's uptick in violent crime.   Continue reading...
