Dallas Man Gets 14 Years in Prison for Meth Distribution

A 27-year-old Dallas man was sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, federal officials said.Ivan Reyes Perez was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey to 166 months in federal prison and ordered to forfeit $27,080.Perez has been in custody since his arrest in April. He pleaded guilty in October to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute a controlled substance.Co-defendant Genesis Jaramillo, 24, was arrested in June and is awaiting sentencing, officials said.The pair were arrested in a hotel room in Mesquite last year after officers found a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, a cooking pot and a pan that contained crystal-like substances. Officers also found a digital scale, plastic baggies and a substance used to cut drugs.The Drug Enforcement Administration and Mesquite Police Department investigated the case.   Continue reading...
