Dallas-Fort Worth Only 18th Best Place to Live in U.S. News' 2018 Ranking

Dallas-Fort Worth is better than Houston, but not in the same league as Austin and not quite as good as San Antonio.That's the upshot of U.S. News & World Report's 2018 ranking of best places to live in the United States. D-FW came in 18th in this year's ranking — down three spots from last year.The Lone Star State's capital city, Austin, took the No. 1 spot for the second straight year. San Antonio placed 14th. North Texas' did fare better than rival Houston, which finished 26th.U.S. News ranks the nation's 125 largest metropolitan areas based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life. It uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, FBI and U.S. News' own rankings of best high schools and hospitals. It also considers responses to a random survey of 2,500 internet users about where they'd like to live.The ranking was created to highlight cities that combine vibrant economies with desirable quality of life, according to U.S. News.  Continue reading...
