Dallas County Commissioner Fined $1,500 for Campaign Finance Violations

Dallas County Commissioner Theresa Daniel was fined $1,500 by the Texas Ethics Commission for violations in her campaign finance statements, records show. State regulators found Daniel didn't adequately: describe some expenditures; identify some vendors she paid using credit cards; and document every contributor's full name and address. Her statements had listed some of her contributors and vendors only as acronyms, which the commission found broke the rules. "Obviously I have learned my lesson to make sure all the acronyms are spelled out and all the details are contained within," Daniel said Monday. "Going forward, I will not allow that to happen again." The commission's ruling, issued March 23, examined five reports that ranged from October 2012 to July 2014. Among the expenditures Daniel didn't properly document using the recipient's full name: $1,000 in April 2013 to "J Price." She later corrected the item to John W.
